The inaugural Lyme Regis Literary Salon was held on June 11th this year, World Gin Day. What better way to celebrate than with gin-based cocktails and sharing the written word with like-minded people?

The literary salon is a long-established tradition where like-minded people gather to share the written word, enjoy lively conversation and explore new ideas.

We heard readings from a variety of literary forms, from AA Milne to Noel Coward, fiction and non-fiction. There’s something rather intimate and revealing about hearing people’s choices of favourite works. Our venue was the beautiful Grade II Listed Regency villa, Dorset House, where future salons will also be held.

ArtsFest Literary Salon

Our next Salon will feature Gill Meller in conversation, as he talks about the   inspiration behind his debt solo cookbook, Gather. Enjoy canapés made by Gill and seasonal cocktails as he talks to Jan Lane. There will be a Q&A and Gill will be signing copies of his new book, plus a smattering readings to reflect the landscape around us.
