The ArtsFest Literary Salon, with special guest, chef and Guardian writer Gill Meller, was a huge success. Held at luxury boutique B&B Dorset House, guests enjoyed seasonal cocktails and canapés inspired by recipes in Gill’s debut solo cookbook, Gather.
Janis Lane, owner of The Writing Room in Lyme, hosted proceedings with Lyn Martin, Dorset House proprietor. After sampling delicious homemade treats, guests were seated in the sumptuous lounge and dining room for a reading of John Keats’ Ode to Autumn, read by writer and poet Phil Whitehead: a fitting seasonal start. Gill and Janis then talked about the inspiration behind Gather and Gill’s love of the local landscape and seasonal cooking, and guests also asked their own foodie questions. A book signing rounded off a wonderful evening.
The next Literary Salon is on Sunday 11th December from 5.30-8pm at Dorset House, with special guest Nick Ivins telling tales from Walnuts Farm. Enjoy mulled wine, Christmas punch, mince pies and cheese, and bring a festive reading to share! Tickets are £15 each or £25 for two.
